The City contributes towards the administration costs of the MCC program, which is administered by the Alameda County Housing and Community Development Department (HCD). The MCC program allows low- and moderate-income homebuyers to deduct 15% of their annual mortgage interest payments on their federal income tax returns, effectively lowering the dollar amount of their monthly mortgage payments. CDLAC did not provide MCC funds to counties statewide in 2020. As a result, no MCCs were issued.
